
At around 9 pm yesterday Saturday a magnitude 5.2 earthquake was reported to have hit Baganga town in Davao Oriental.
Center of the tremor was said to be 10 kilometers southeast of Baculin, Davao Oriental and is tectonic in origin. It was 25 kilometers deep.
Tremor was felt in the towns of Cateel and Mati City, and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur and partly in Davao City.
This is the fifth time an earthquake of medium intensity has been recorded in the province this year. The following shows the past tremors in the area:
- January 16 – magnitude 5.6, magnitude 5.9
- May 31 – magnitude 6.2
- June 1 – magnitude 6.1
- August 31 – magnitude 5.1
No damages were reported but aftershocks are to be expected according to Phivolcs.
