Christmas in the country may not be white but it sure will be rainy. Tropical Storm Ursula is expected to be near the Visayas area by Dec. 24th affecting Dinagat, Siargao and Bucas Grande islands, Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and the northern portions of Cebu and Negros Occidental.
By 8:00 this morning the TS Ursula was 900 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and 80 kph gusts, this according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA.
By Christmas eve also light to moderate with some scattered heavy rains will be experienced in Quezon and the rest of Visayas, Bicol Region, and Surigao del Norte.
Storm signal number 1 has been raised in the following areas: Eastern Samar, Dinagat and the island municipalities of Surigao Del Norte: Burgos, Sta. Monica, San Isidro, San Benito, Del Carmen, Pilar, Dapa, Gen. Luna and Socorro.
Residents in the recent earthquake hit areas are advised to stay away from places with signs of cracks as the rains may trigger landslides.
