A magnitude 6.3 earthquake woke up residents in Batangas this Christmas morning at 7:43 a.m. The quake struck 11 kilometers southwest of Calatagan with a depth of 102 kilometers.
The following intensities have been recorded:
- Intensity IV – Lemery, and Malvar, Batangas; San Pedro, Laguna; City of Manila; Marikina City; Quezon City; Cainta and Antipolo City, Rizal; Pasig City
- Intensity III – Caloocan City; Tanay, Rizal; San Jose Del Monte City, and Plaridel, Bulacan; Gapan City, Nueva Ecija; Cabangan and Iba, Zambales; Samal,
- Bataan; Valenzuela City; Malabon City
- Intensity II – San Isidro, Nueva Ecija; Alaminos City, Pangasinan
The quake was tectonic in origin. Residents turned to social media to relate their experiences with one resident in Las Pinas saying that their stock of water on a drum over spilled due to the intensity of the rocking.

No damages have been reported so far but Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
