A magnitude 5 earthquake hit near Cagayan this Monday afternoon. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the tremor was felt at 1:34 p.m. and is tectonic in origin.

It had a depth of 54 kilometers and was located 001 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island.

It registered at Intensity III in Luna, Apayao and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte and felt at Intensity II in Lal-lo, Buguey, Lasam and Peñablanca, Cagayan.

Aftershocks are likely to occur, and no damages were expected.
