A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit the province of Ilocos Norte late Friday evening. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the tremor was felt at 11:05 p.m. southeast of the town of Burgos.

It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 20 kilometers.

The tremblor was felt in the following areas:

Intensity V – Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Burgos, City of Laoag, Nueva Era, Pagudpud, Vintar and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte

Intensity IV – Badoc, Banna, City of Batac, Carasi, Currimao, Dingras, Dumalneg, Marcos, Paoay, Piddig, Pinili, Sarrat and San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; Sinait and City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur; Lagangilang, Licuan-Baay and Tineg, Abra

Intensity III – Bantay, Lidlidda, Santa Catalina and San Vicente, Ilocos Sur; Solsona, Ilocos Norte; Bontoc, Mountain Province

Intensity II – Santa, Ilocos Sur; Buguias and Mankayan, Benguet; Sagada, Mountain Province

Intensity I – Bantay, Ilocos Sur; Sablan, Benguet

There will be aftershocks, but no damages were reported
