Bukidnon was roused early in the morning yesterday with a magnitude 5.0 earthquake.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) determined the epicenter of the tremor at 9.0 kilometers northeast of Kalilangan town.

The quake which occurred at 5:44 a.m. had a depth of 4 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

The following intensities were recorded:

Intensity V – Amai Manabilang

Intensity IV – Kalilangan, Bukidnon; Kapatagan, Malabang and Wao in Lanao del Sur, and Barira and Matanog in Maguindano.

Intensity III – Talakag, Damulog, Dangcagan, Don Carlos, Kadingilan, Libona, Maramag, Pangatucan and Quezon in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City.

Phivolcs announced that due to the shallowness of the source damage and aftershocks were expected.
