Mindanao was hit with a magnitude 6.4 earthquake yesterday evening that was felt all over the region.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the epicenter of the earthquake near Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The quake was tectonic in origin and hit 66 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island in the Municipality of Sarangani.
The tremor had a depth of 139 kilometers and hit at around 7:21 p.m.
GMA News reported incidents of people evacuating from establishments, metal foundations shaking and cables swaying.

The following intensities have been recorded:
Intensity V – Sarangani, and Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Kiamba, and Malungon, Sarangani; City of Digos, Davao del Sur
Intensity IV – City of General Santos; City of Koronadal, Tupi, T’Boli, Polomolok, South Cotabato; Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Palimbang, and Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat
Intensity III – City of Davao; Alamada, Banisilan, City of Kidapawan, Magpet, Makilala, M’lang, Matalam, Pigcawayan, and Tulunan, COTABATO; Kalamansig, Lambayong, President Quirino, Senator Ninoy Aquino, and City of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat; Lake Sebu, Tampakan, Santo Niño, and Surallah, South Cotabato
Intensity II – Zamboanga City; Antipas, Arakan, Libungan, and President Roxas, Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat; San Fernando, and Kalilangan,
Bukidnon; City of Gingoog, Misamis Oriental; Tantangan, South Cotabato; Cotabato City; Datu Odin Sinsuat, and Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte
Intensity I – Cagayan de Oro City; Pangantucan, and Cabanglasan, Bukidnon; Aleosan, Cotabato
Classes were suspended across all levels in Davao Occidental due to the earthquake.
