Early this afternoon a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the province of Davao Occidental according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs earlier reported the tremor at Magnitude 7.2 then downgraded it to 6.8.
The tremor which struck some 30 kilometers southwest of the province of Sarangani took place at around 4:14 p.m.
Phivolcs director Teresito Bacolcol said Phivolcs had determined its origin to be tectonic and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.
