Despite the challenges, the airport’s control tower efficiently managed the departure of two commercial flights. Importantly, all passengers and airport staff are safe, and no injuries have been reported.

Davao International Airport, Cotabato Airport, and Mati Airport Unaffected

In contrast, Davao International Airport, Cotabato Airport, and Mati Airport emerged unscathed, according to Engr. Rex Obcena, the Davao Airport Area Manager. CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo received assurance that these airports reported no damages to their facilities.

Seismic Impact Across Mindanao and Sarangani

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) confirmed that the earthquake’s epicenter was in Davao Occidental, affecting various parts of Mindanao, including Sarangani. The quake, with a magnitude of 6.8, was a significant event, prompting immediate responses from relevant authorities.

Ongoing Monitoring for Aftershocks
