A magnitude 5.1 tremor jolted parts of Surigao del Sur this morning at 6:52 a.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) determined the location of the quake to be 123 kilometers southeast of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.
The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers and is tectonic in origin according to Phivolcs.
The agency also said that no damage was reported and that aftershocks are not expected to occur.

Surigao del Sur is currently under the State of calamity due to the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that hit Hinatuan last December 2 where 3 people were killed and about 76 hurt in both Caraga and Davao region according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
To date, more than 5000 aftershocks have been recorded based on the report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
