A magnitude 5.1 quake just hit Hinatuan in the province of Surigao del Sur today at 9:11 a.m. according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The epicenter was located at 32 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan town.
It had a depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin based on the data from PHIVOLCS.
The following intensities have been recorded from the following areas:
Intensity V – City of Bislig and Hinatuan, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity III– City of Tandag and Lingig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity II– Tagbina, Lianga, Bayabas, and Cagwait, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Phivolcs expects no aftershocks and that there were no reports of damages.
