A magnitude 5.0 earthquake just hit the province of Surigao del Sur today at 5:16 in the morning.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) determined the quake to be tectonic in origin and hit some 31 kilometers northeast of Lingig with a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.
The following intensities have been reported:
Intensity V – Lingig, and Hinatuan, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity IV – City of Bislig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity III – Boston, DAVAO ORIENTAL,and Nabunturan, DAVAO DE ORO

Phivolcs stated that there may be damages from the tremor, but no aftershocks are expected.
