A town in Davao Oriental was hit with a magnitude earthquake yesterday evening according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The quake occurred at 6:45 p.m. with a depth of 51 kilometers and is tectonic in origin. Its epicenter was located at 46 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
The tremor was felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Governor Generoso and Tarragona, DAVAO ORIENTAL; City of Digos, DAVAO DEL SUR
Intensity III – Cateel, Manay, City of Mati, Lupon, and Caraga, DAVAO ORIENTAL; CITY OF DAVAO; Matanao, DAVAO DEL SUR; Pantukan, DAVAO DE ORO; Jose Abad Santos, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Glan, Malungon, and Malapatan, SARANGANI; Tupi, SOUTH COTABATO
Intensity II – Kiamba and Maitum, SARANGANI; CITY OF GENERAL SANTOS; Palimbang, SULTAN KUDARAT; Mawab and Mabini, DAVAO DE ORO; Magsaysay, DAVAO DEL SUR; Tampakan, SOUTH COTABATO
Intensity I – Maasim, SARANGANI; City of Kidapawan, Antipas, Matalam, Arakan, Tulunan, President Roxas, and Makilala, COTABATO; Kiblawan, DAVAO DEL SUR
Phivolcs stated that no damage was expected but warned of possible aftershocks.
