A magnitude 6.4 tremor struck the province of Davao Oriental this Wednesday morning January 7, 2026.
The quake which struck at around 11:02 a.m. was located off the coast of the town of Manay and had a depth of focus of 16 kilometers according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Its exact epicenter was approximately 55 kilometers north-northeast of the above-mentioned town.
Despite hitting offshore no tsunami threat was issued.

City of Bislig and Cagwait, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity III – Laak, Maco, Mawab, and Monkayo, DAVAO DE ORO;
City of Tagum, DAVAO DEL NORTE; City of Digos, DAVAO DEL SUR; CITY OF DAVAO;
Santa Maria, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Baganga, Banaybanay, Boston, Governor Generoso,
and San Isidro, DAVAO ORIENTAL; Kiamba, and Maitum, SARANGANI;
Tampakan, and Tupi, SOUTH COTABATO; City of Tandag, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity II – City of Baybay, and Palo, LEYTE; Hinundayan, San Francisco,

Intensity I – Cabanglasan, City of Malaybalay, Quezon, San Fernando,
and City of Valencia, BUKIDNON; Alabel, Maasim, and Malapatan, SARANGANI;
City of Koronadal, Norala, Polomolok, Santo Niño, Surallah, and Tantangan, SOUTH COTABATO;

Two recent magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes struck Manay, Davao Oriental last October 2025.
Phivolcs stated possible damage due to the intensity of the earthquake and that there could be some aftershocks.
