A magnitude 6.4 earthquake rocked Cagayan anew at 7:03 p.m. today.

The quake struck some 26 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) determined the depth to be 10 kilometers and that it was tectonic in origin.

Just this morning at 1:30 a.m a magnitude 4.9 quake was reported in the same area.

The following Intensities were recorded:

Intensity 4 – Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

The following area recorded Instrumental Intensities:

Instrumental Intensity 4 – Aparri and Gonzaga, Cagayan; and Laoag City, Ilocos Sur.
Intensity 3 – Penablanca, Cagayan; and Sinait and Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Intensity 2 – Ilagan, Isabela.
Intensity 1 in Casiguran, Aurora; Candon, Narvacan and Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.

Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks. No damage was reported.
