A magnitude 5.3 quake rattled the province of Agusan del Sur yesterday at 6:26 p.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) determined its epicenter to be some 10 kilometers northeast of Talacogon, Agusan Del Sur.
It has a depth of focus of kilometers and is tectonic in origin.
The following intensities were reported:
Intensity IV – City of Bislig and Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur
Intensity III – City of Gingoog, Medina, Magsaysay, and Jasaan, MISAMIS ORIENTAL; Nabunturan, Mabini, Monkayo, and Laak, DAVAO DE ORO; Barobo, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Intensity II – Maco, DAVAO DE ORO; Cagwait, SURIGAO DEL SUR; CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO; Villanueva and Tagoloan, MISAMIS ORIENTAL; Kabacan and Matalan, COTABATO
Intensity I– Caraga, DAVAO ORIENTAL; CITY OF DAVAO; Antipas, COTABATO
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) raised concerns that there could be possible damage and aftershocks.
