A magnitude 5 earthquake occurred Tuesday morning in Davao del Sur according to the report by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor hit the municipality of Matanao at 9:42 a.m. with its epicenter located some 5 kilometers from the said municipality.
It had a depth of focus of 15 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
The areas below reported the following intensities:
Intensity V – City of Digos, Magsaysay, Matanao, and Bansalan, DAVAO DEL SUR
Intensity IV– Hagonoy, and Santa Cruz, DAVAO DEL SUR; CITY OF DAVAO; Kabacan, City of Kidapawan, and M’lang, COTABATO; Malungon, SARANGANI; Tampakan, and Tupi, SOUTH COTABATO
Intensity III – Antipas, Arakan, Magpet, Matalam, President Roxas, and Tulunan, COTABATO; Alabel, Glan, and Malapatan, SARANGANI; Banga, City of Koronadal, Polomolok, and Tantangan, SOUTH COTABATO; CITY OF GENERAL SANTOS
Intensity II – Jose Abad Santos, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Libungan, COTABATO; Norala, Surallah, Santo Niño, and T’Boli, SOUTH COTABATO
Intensity I – Don Marcelino, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Banisilan, COTABATO; Lake Sebu, SOUTH COTABATO
Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks and no damage were reported.
