Davao Occidental was once again hit by a massive earthquake. Last night at 8:23 pm, a magnitude 7.1 tremor was reported 244 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.

It has depth of 11 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Director Renato Solidum of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), said that there is no threat for a tsunami. Phivolcs released a bulletin right away to allay fears and to counter any misinformation regarding this threat.
