As of today January 13, the following updates were taken from the briefing conducted by the different Philippine government agencies on the Taal Volcano eruption:

Road Closures
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways the Tagaytay-Talisay Road and the Tagaytay Taal Lake Road will be closed temporarily due to the eruption.

Volcanic Tsunamis
Falling debris from an eruption such as this can push the water and generate waves towards the shoreline. Such an event already happened in the 1960’s and 1911 eruptions.

No Hazardous Movement Yet
According to Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum, the Monday eruption does not mean that the volcano is already in the midst of a “hazardous explosive eruption”. He based this on the eruptions manifested by Taal Volcano in the years 1965, 1911, and 1754 where there were ash flows, rocks, gas vents flowed across the lake.

Earthquakes To Continue
Phivolcs also warned that tremors of less than Magnitude 4 will continue within the area. As of today a total of 75 volcanic earthquakes have been monitored in the Taal region as early as Monday morning. This persistent ground moving might loosen top soil and cause erosion.
