On this early morning Saturday, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded in Mindanao region. The quake struck 010 kilometers NW of Cotabato City, Maguindanao at 1:09 a.m.

It has a depth of 489 kilometers and is tectonic in origin.

The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

Intensity II – Alabel and Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity I – Tupi, General Santos City and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani

Phivolcs bulletin signifies possible damages and aftershocks. The U.S. Geological Survey or USGS placed the magnitude at 6.4.
