A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck southeast of Sarangani in Davao Occidental yesterday night at 8:06 p.m. The tremor is tectonic in origin and struck some 208 kilometers from Sarangani. It has a depth of 8 kilometers.

It was preceded by a lighter tremor which struck at 6:16 p.m. of the same day. This one registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake and was located 222 kilometers southeast of the same town of Sarangani. It had a depth of 29 kilometers and was also tectonic in origin.

No damages were reported and no aftershocks were expected.
