A magnitude 6 earthquake just shook parts of Davao Occidental today at 9:39 a.m. according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake which was tectonic in origin hit 256 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Islands, Sarangani with a depth of 122 kilometers.
The following intensities were reported:
- Intensity IV – Glan, Sarangani while
- Intensity I – City of General Santos, South Cotabato
These areas recorded the following instrumental intensities:
- Intensity III – Malungon, Sarangani
- Intensity II – Alabel in Sarangani, and Koronadal in South Cotabato
- Intensity I – Nabunturan in Davao de Oro, Jose Abad Santos and Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental, City of General Santos, City of Kidapawan, Tampakan and Polomolok in South Cotabato, and Malapatan and Kiamba in Sarangani.

Just this month, Davao Occidental has previously reported a series of tremors:
- Magnitude 4.6 on Sept. 11
- Magnitude 5.1 on Sept. 8
- Magnitude 5.2 on Sept. 5
Phivolcs warned of aftershocks and stated that there were no damages reported.
