A magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred early this morning off the coast of Dolores in Eastern Samar.
The tremor was reported to have hit at 12:20 a.m. with its epicenter located at 53 kilometers southeast of Dolores.
It had a depth of 25 kilometers and was tectonic in origin according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The following Instrumental Intensities have been recorded:
Intensity III – Can-Avid, EASTERN SAMAR; Dulag, LEYTE
Intensity II – Alangalang, Abuyog, and Hilongos, LEYTE
Intensity I – Quinapondan, EASTERN SAMAR; Leyte, Carigara, Mahaplag, and Albuera, LEYTE; Villareal, SAMAR; Sogod, SOUTHERN LEYTE
Though no damage were reported, aftershocks are expected.
