Monday night jolted the residents of Oriental Mindoro with a magnitude 4.9 earthquake.

The tremor which was tectonic in origin according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), struck at 7:02 p.m.

The epicenter was determined to be some 34 kilometers southwest of Victoria, Oriental Mindoro and had a depth of 4 kilometers.

The following intensities have been recorded:

  • Intensity III – Victoria, Oriental Mindoro.
  • Intensity II – Abra De Ilog and Calintaan in Occidental Mindoro and Bansud, City of Calapan, Naujan, and San Teodoro in Oriental Mindoro.
  • Intensity I – Baco, Puerto Galera, and Socorro in Oriental Mindoro.

These areas experienced the following instrumental intensities:

  • Intensity III — Victoria, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity II — Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity I — Boac, Marinduque, and  Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro

There were no reports of damage and Phivolcs is not expecting any aftershocks.
