Davao was hit with a magnitude 6 earthquake Saturday afternoon according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake struck 234 kilometers southeast of Balut Island at 4:55 p.m. had a depth of 83 kilometers.

It was tectonic in origin and registered at Intensity I in T’Boli and Koronadal City, South Cotabato as well as in Kiamba and Glan, Sarangani province.

Phivolcs determined that it was an aftershock of the magnitude 7 earthquake that occurred in the same province last January 18.

No damage nor aftershocks were expected.
