Mayor Myrill Apit announced that the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) is finalizing a comprehensive Risk Communication Plan designed to enhance the flow of critical information before, during, and after disaster events. The initiative focuses on reaching even the most remote barangays, where early warnings and rescue assistance are often more challenging to deliver.
According to the mayor, the plan will help strengthen communication links among local responders, barangay authorities, and residents, particularly in high-risk areas prone to natural hazards such as earthquakes, flooding, and landslides. The municipality is also updating its emergency response protocols to streamline the deployment of manpower, equipment, and resources during urgent situations.

As part of the ongoing improvements, the local government is conducting an assessment of its existing disaster response equipment and preparing to acquire additional tools and vehicles to support rapid mobilization. These upgrades aim to reduce casualties and enhance the effectiveness of rescue operations.
The enhanced systems and protocols will be rolled out in collaboration with barangays and partner agencies in the coming months, reinforcing Mawab’s commitment to community safety and resilience.
