At 11:25 this Saturday morning, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked the province of Davao Oriental. The quake struck 54 kilometers southeast of the town of Governor Generoso.
It has a depth of 118 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. The following instrumental intensities were recorded in nearby areas:
Intensity II – Tupi, South Cotabato; General Santos City; Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity I – Kiamba, Sarangani; Koronadal City

This was followed at 1:03 p.m. by a magnitude 4.6 earthquake in the province of Occidental Mindoro. The tremor was located at 19 kilometers northwest of Abra de Ilog town.
It was also tectonic in origin and had a depth of 123 kilometers.

Shortly at 1:48 p.m. a magnitude 4.0 also struck in the province of Eastern Samar. The quake hit 27 kilometers northeast of Hermani town.
It was also tectonic with a depth of 13 kilometers.
No damages were reported so far and according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) no aftershock were expected.
