Another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 struck off the province of Davao Occidental last night, Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. The epicenter is at 96 kilometers southeast of the town of Sarangani.

However, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) it has been first recorded at magnitude 5.6 with the epicenter located right at the town of Jose Abad Santos.

The tremor was said to be tectonic in origin with a depth of 73 kilometers.

The following intensities have been recorded:

Intensity III – Glan, Sarangani
Intensity II – General Santos City, Davao City, and in Malapatan and Alabel towns in Sarangani province.

Right after this, five more consecutive earthquakes have been recorded in Sarangani with magnitudes ranging from 2.0 to 3.4 and were deemed to be aftershocks of the first earthquake according to Phivolcs.

At 9:56 p.m. another shaking has been recorded with a magnitude of 4.3 with the epicenter located just 7 kilometers southeast of Malita.

It was also tectonic in origin with a depth of 174 kilometers. It registered at Intensity III in General Santos City. Aftershocks are expected.

All tremors did not result to any damages so far.
