Another medium level earthquake surprised residents just this morning in Davao de Sur. A magnitude 4.8 earthquake was reported this morning at 1:44 a.m. The quake hit Kiblawan town in Davao del Sur.
The following intensities were reported:
Intensity V – Kiblawan, Davao del Sur; Malungon, Sarangani;
Intensity IV – Davao City; Digos City, and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur; Tupi, South Cotabato; Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte
Intensity III – Koronadal City; Bansalan and Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
Intensity II – Kidapawan City; General Santos City; Antipas and Makilala, Cotabato
According to Phivolcs chief Renator Solidum it is related to the series of movement of the various faults in the Cotabato fault system which started last year.
No aftershocks were expected and no damage has been reported in the area.
