Three succeeding earthquake was reported in Davao City today with all of them occuring within an hour.
First a magnitude 4.8 tremor struck Davao City Wednesday afternoon.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the seismic activity at exactly 2:53 p.m. some 9 kilometers northeast of Santa Cruz in Occidental Mindoro.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 30 kilometers.
The following intensities were reported:
Intensity IV – Davao City, and Kidapawan City of Cotabato;
Intensity III – City of Calapan and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro;
Intensity II – Abucay in Bataan and Ternate in Cavite;
Intensity I – Batangas City in Batangas, Tagaytay City in Cavite; Boac in Marinduque; San Jose in Abra De Ilog, and Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro.
After this a lighter tremor with a magnitude of 4.0 was felt in Magpet, Cotabato at 3:02 p.m. It struck some 30 kilometers northwest of the City of Davao and has a depth of 5 kilometers.
At 3:51 in the afternoon within almost the same hour another quake struck, this time another magnitude 4.8 which occurred 29 kilometers northwest of the same city.
It had a depth of 1 kilometer. No damage or aftershocks were expected.
