Just this evening at 8:59 a magnitude 4.2 earthquake was reported in Batangas. The quake was felt in Mabini, Batangas and Phivolcs located the epicenter at 5 kilometers south of Mabini.

Per Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), it was tectonic in origin and did not come from Taal’s activity.

Nearest volcano in the area is in Panay.

Intensity 1 was felt in Tagaytay City. No damage and aftershocks are expected.
