🚨EARTHQUAKE SAFETY TIP #003
🚗 Driving
Quick Safety Tip
🚗 If you’re driving when strong shaking begins, stay calm and slow down gradually.
✅ Pull over to a safe location away from bridges, overpasses, tunnels, power lines, trees, buildings, and roadside signs.
✅ Stop the vehicle, engage the parking brake, and remain inside until the shaking stops.
✅ Turn on your hazard lights if it is safe to do so.
✅ Listen to local authorities for updates before continuing your journey.
❌ Do NOT stop on or beneath bridges, flyovers, or overpasses.
❌ Do NOT stop under power lines or next to buildings that could shed glass or debris.
❌ Do NOT leave your vehicle while the ground is still shaking unless there is an immediate life-threatening hazard, such as fire.
Remember:
Your vehicle can provide good protection from falling debris if you stop in a safe, open area.
Preparedness Tip: Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle that includes water, a flashlight, a first aid kit, a phone charger, and sturdy shoes. After the earthquake, drive cautiously and watch for damaged roads, fallen debris, downed power lines, and disrupted traffic signals.
