
A town in Surigao del Sur has been hit by several earthquakes last night.
According to the report by Rise and Shine Philippines, the first tremor occurred past 6 pm with a magnitude of 5.6 and was followed by a magnitude 5.4 sometime past 7:00 in the morning. At around 11:30 a.m. another tremor rocked the town with a magnitude of 5.5.
The tremors hit east of Bayabas town and has been deemed tectonic in origin according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The first one which hit 75 kilometers northeast of Bayabas had a depth of 1 kilometer.
Intensity IV was felt in Bayabas, Cantilan, Carmen and Tandag City, and Surigao del Sur.
No damages were reported.
